Psychedelic Minions a short story (in progress) available on Kindel Vella.
The Fungi hated the rock. Building tools for leaving required minions, and minions were hard to find. Great effort was expended developing a useful minion. Manipulation of genomes, ecology, behavior and toxins were all tried by The Fungi to adapt organisms to meet their requirements. Imagine their surprise when simply changing the action of monkey neurochemicals made space flight, and escape, possible.
